A while back, my ma found me an old, large picture frame at the thrift store for me to sell. It's the style of frame that you would often find hanging over a couch in a suburban house in the 70s. You know, the kind that would always have a butt ugly decorative print inside - maybe some white horses running through a field in a storm? I had intended on selling it but decided to try and make it into a mirror and hang it in the house before I let it go.
It's quite ornate, the sort of mirror a vampire would use to put on their makeup (it's so goth they can see their reflection in this sucker). It's not the sort of style I'm normally into but I thought maybe it could look cool somewhere amongst the mishmash of shit in the house. So I got out the trusty old spray paint, had a piece of mirror put into it and turned this beast from pseudo-Victorian granny to 'obsessed with A Nightmare Before Christmas and striped knee socks' goth.
I'm trying it over the fireplace for now but I don't think I'm digging it here. I haven't actually done anything to try and make it work other than shoving some black vases on one side that just get lost in the sameness. The mantel sucks and doesn't do it any justice and I think it's a wee bit too high.
Blah. Oh well. Maybe it will grow on me once I revamp this living room with my pee chair, a new rug, etc. If it still stinks here then off it will go to find another home either in a different room or at someone else's house. I need to decide if I should commit to almost all black and white in this room or de-black this mofo of a space. Maybe I'll just sell everything in it, throw a cushion in the middle of the floor and use it to meditate...
